Pray that your week has gone well and that you will have a blessed Shabbat.
This portion, Beha'alotcha, is the 3rd Torah Portion in Numbers.
It goes from Numbers 8:1-12:16.
When I do the Torah Portions I normally use E-Sword
to look up the verses and Hebrew meanings of each word.
Well, I was trying to find where this word Beha'alotcha was,
I couldn't find it. I looked for it for 15 minutes and I couldn't find it.
Then, I decided to look into the Hebrew
Old Testament to see where this word was.
I realized that this word was there the whole time!
What was very interesting is that this word Beha'alotcha(בהעלתך)
is only found in this verse, and that in the Strong's they
only use part of this word to show it's meaning
since this is the only time this word is shown.
The meaning of this word Beha'alotcha(בהעלתך) is "When you set up".
It can also mean "In your going up", "When you bring", and "When you light".
But let's look back to the Ancient Hebrew for more detail.
Beha'alotcha
בהעלתך
Meaning:
The house is revealed by seeing
the authority of the sealed covering.
And how are you able to see? With light!!
Psalms 36:9
For with You is the fountain of life;
In Your light we see light.
It is only by seeing Him and being sealed into His covering that we can truly see.
YHVH was showing an amazing picture here.
Without His Light, we have NO light and we cannot be a house.
Now, since we have this light, shouldn't we shine it?
Matthew 5:14-16
“You are the light of the world.
It is impossible for a city to be hidden on a mountain.
15 “Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket,
but on a lampstand, and it shines to all those in the house.
16 “Let your light so shine before men, so that they see your
good works and praise your Father who is in the heavens.
We have this light, so SHINE IT!!
HalleluYAH!

The rest of chapter 8 has to do with the Levites.
Here once again YHVH talks about how the firstborn were His,
and how the Levites were to be the firstborn instead of Yisra'el.
Remember, all of Yisra'el were supposed to be His Priests and His firstborn,
but since they complained and disobeyed YHVH at Mt.Sinai,
YHVH chose the Levites.
Do you know what the good news is?
YHVH, through His Son Yahshua, has made us priests!
1st Peter 2:5
You also, as living stones, are being built up, a spiritual house,
a set-apart priesthood, to offer up spiritual slaughter
offerings acceptable to Elohim through Yahshua Messiah.
HalleluYAH!

Now, starting in chapter 9, the children of Yisra'el start moving out from Mt.Sinai,
following the cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night.
But before they could go, YHVH wanted them to perform the Passover
the way He had taught them to do it.
He wanted them to do this yearly so that they never forgot what He did for them,
as with the other feasts. Of course they still forgot, as YHVH had planned.
It is our job now never to forget what YHVH did for our forefathers.
The days are coming when there will be another Exodus,
when we will return back to our homeland. We must be prepared for the return.
That is why we must prepare for when it is time to
go and rehearse what Yisra'el went though, like doing the feasts,
living within our means, sharing what we have with others, etc.
I would have loved to see and experience the columns of cloud and fire.
Imagine seeing this huge fire RIGHT in front of you and yet it didn't burn.
If it wasn't for YHVH wanting the scattering to happen,
they would have probably believed Him and followed all His ways.
But since it was His will that they didn't believe,
we now have an opportunity to come into His kingdom.
Praise Yah!

Now in chapter 10. YHVH commanded Moshe to build 2 trumpets of silver.
These trumpets where to do many things, like call the leaders of Yisra'el together,
when and in what order to depart, and when they were to go to war.
After this command, YHVH wanted them to leave the mountain,
and they did, in the same order that YHVH told them to.
What is interesting is that Israel, specifically in the 1967 war,
used this same tactic to depart from their camps.
in fact, they used many of the military-minded tactics that
YHVH told Yisra'el about in their own army. Wow!
Anyway, this is the 1st time the Children of Yisra'el left Mt.Sinai.
But as we will see in the next chapter, this wasn't exactly a good thing...
______________________________________________________________
Well, well, well... we get to chapter 11. It's been 3 days since they left Mt.Sinai.
They were just there listening to YHVH telling them all these
instructions and commands and things to do, promising to obey them ALL.
So, they do this....
Numbers 11:1
And it came to be, when the people were as complainers,
it was evil in the ears of YHVH.
YHVH heard it, and His displeasure burned.
And the fire of YHVH burned among them,
and consumed those in the outskirts of the camp.
How about that! It took 3 days of not being
at the mountain to forget about what YHVH said.
Now, when it says that "the fire of YHVH",
what it really should mean is the glory of YHVH.
YHVH cannot be next to sin because He consumes it.
In fact, this is shown in Ancient Hebrew:
Esh
אשׁ
Meaning:
The Leader Consumes
___________________________________________________________
I hope that we all understand that it is a miracle in itself that we aren't consumed today. Only by YHVH's mercy in sending Yahshua is it possible.
But one day, if we do not repent and believe in Him,
He will not be able to do anything else
other than put us into that eternal consuming fire.
He has given the world this time to repent, believe, love, and obey Him,
but soon He will not be able to do that any longer.
We must tell the world who Yahshua is before it is too late!
If you are reading this and haven't repented and
believed in Yahshua the Messiah, there is still time.
If you really love and want to be with Him:
John 14:15-17
If you love me, you shall guard My commands.
16 “And I shall ask the Father,
and He shall give you another Helper,
to stay with you forever –
17 The Spirit of the Truth,
whom the world is unable to receive,
because it does not see Him or know Him.
But you know Him,
for He stays with you and shall be in you.
He is knocking at the door,
waiting for you to repent and follow Him:
Revelation 3:19-20
“As many as I love, I reprove and discipline.
So be ardent and repent.
“See, I stand at the door and knock.
If anyone hears My voice and opens the door,
I shall come in to him and dine with him,
and he with Me.
He is the creator; He is the covenant maker,
He is the Commander-In-Chief.
He is holy, He is all-powerful, and He knows all.
He is the King, He is the High Priest, and He loves us all.
If you obey His voice,
and come into the covenant...
Exodus 19:5-6
‘And now, if you diligently obey My voice,
and shall guard My covenant,
then you shall be My treasured
possession above all the peoples –
for all the earth is Mine –
6 And you shall be to Me a reign
of priests and a set-apart nation.’
Those are the words which you
are to speak to the children of Yisra’el.”
He tells us we will be His treasured possession!
A reign of priests!
And a set-apart nation!
Only if you repent, believe, love, and obey, all these blessings will come upon you.
My life has changed since I believed, it will change yours to.
There will be trials. Your family, friends, and neighbors won't like it,
I promise. But that is part of the test.
Keep up the faith, share the good news,
don't worry about things of this earth.
Look to add to the kingdom of YHVH,
and He will give you what you need.
Matthew 6:31-33
“Do not worry then, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or
‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
32 For all these the gentiles seek for.
And your heavenly Father knows that you need all these.
33 But seek first the reign of Elohim,
and His righteousness,
and all these matters shall be added to you.
HalleluYAH!!

Now to continue chapter 11, the children of Yisra'el kept
complaining even after YHVH had burned many of them.
They wanted meat to eat instead of manna, not realizing that YHVH
made the manna to give them every nutritional thing they needed.
But, in order to judge Yisra'el, He gave them what they wanted, and WAY more.
In fact in verse 32, when it talks about them gathering it,
it says that the person who gathered the least gathered 10 homers.
I checked and was very grossed out by how much they gathered.
The least person, the LEAST, gathered 600 gallons of quail. 600 GALLONS!!
That's disgusting. No wonder they were smote with a great plague.
There's gluttony, and then there's GLUTTONY!
____________________________________________________________
Now the last chapter, chapter 12.
This chapter, as well as the last chapter, is the start of Yisra'el's complaining.
It gets so bad that finally YHVH had to punish them
by not allowing them to enter the promised land for 40 years,
killing off this generation that we are reading of.
This time though, it is between Aharon and Miryam against Moshe.
It starts out by saying they spoke against Moshe for taking a Kushite woman,
but in verse 2 is where the trouble comes from.
Numbers 12:2
And they said,
“Has YHVH spoken only through Moshe?
Has He not also spoken through us?”
And YHVH heard it.
This wasn't just the complaining that Yisra'el was doing. This was more than that.
They were trying to undermine Moshe's authority.
Moshe right there and then could have killed them.
YHVH could have smote them there.
But look at Moshe's expression in verse 3:
Numbers 12:3
And the man Moshe was very humble,
more than all men who were on the face of the earth.
Instead of being angry, he was humble.
He had the opportunity to destroy them, for He could literally talk to YHVH.
But He didn't. He let His testimony shine. He knew that YHVH would do His will.
And we see that YHVH did in the next verses by making Miryam a leper.
Remember in the last Torah Portion how we looked at how a
leper was one who didn't keep YHVH's instructions(commands).
This was the punishment for disrespecting YHVH's most trusted servant.
Now, this doesn't mean that just because we serve YHVH
that He will punish anyone that talks bad about us.
It was Moshe's reaction that made it all happen. If Moshe would have been angry,
I don't think YHVH would have done the same thing.
Moshe let YHVH do His will instead of doing it himself.
When we are judged for doing something we didn't do,
or maybe we did but wasn't wrong to do, we shouldn't get angry,
but rather be humble and let YHVH do His will.
Luke 22:42b
"Yet not my will, but Yours be done."
Yahshua said this during His biggest trial of all.
This is what we should say, that His will be done, humbly, coming to Him.
Until next time...
Shalom!
